CY CHIU, Poshek FU and Freeman Fellows Keli DIAO, Huixia LIU, Wensong LIU, Sufeng SONG, Volette WANG, Zhi-Xue ZHANG announce a noontime presentation of student work from their spring seminar "Globalization, Culture and Self."

This course engaged scholarships from different humanity and social science disciplines for the purpose of exploring important historical and cultural issues facing Greater China ( i.e., China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and ethnic Chinese communities in Southeast Asia) today. The goal of this course was not to provide answers to the questions, but to question the answers. The goal was for this learning process to broaden and deepen inquiry into the intricate interrelations of globalization, culture, and the self in Greater China.

Presenters:
Leona Middleton: Japanese television dramas and identity formation in Chinese communities
Grace Yan: Representations of Chinese Landscapes in Beijing 2008 Olympic Campaign
