The Japan Studies Association invites you to attend its 13th Annual
Conference to be held January 4-6, 2007 at the Hilton Harbor Island Hotel in
San Diego.
The Japan Studies Association (JSA) is an organization dedicated to provide
information and to expand knowledge in the field, to maintain professional
ties among members, to sustain the members' scholarly enthusiasm in the field
of Japan Studies, to provide mutual assistance for the development and
expansion of the members' undergraduate curriculum and local outreach
programs, and to establish a central network and resources center for Japan
studies available to JSA members. It works in close cooperation with other
Asian-studies organizations such as the Asian Studies Development Program. of
the East-West Center/University of Hawaii.
At the JSA Annual Conferences since 1995, refereed papers have been presented in multiple sessions by faculty from a wide array of institutions including community colleges, state universities, liberal arts colleges and research universities. Papers presented at the conference often appear in the Association's refereed journal, Japan Studies Association Journal.
The conference hotel is located on the scenic waterfront of Harbor Island, just minutes from downtown San Diego.
JSA offers Graduate Student scholarships for as many as five selected graduate students who have proposals accepted for presentation at the annual conference. Those who qualify must be currently enrolled in a graduate program in any content area. To apply simply submit the online proposal and registration forms, being careful to indicate on both the proposal and registration "graduate student." Up to five scholarships of $500.00 each will be awarded. Those who have been accepted and awarded the scholarships will be notified in October with notification of acceptance to the conference program.
