MAWHA is pleased to announce our eleventh annual Mid-Atlantic World History Association conference. Our special focus this year will be on broad historical themes that are applicable on a global scale and how these themes can be applied to teaching at all levels.

Possible topics could include, but are not limited to, the following:

The global impact of religions/ideologies
Migration and borders/diasporas
War and militarism/terrorism
Imperialism/colonialism/global elites
Trade and commerce/globalization
Disease/non-native species
"Clash of civilizations" vs. connections
Industrialism/technology/communications
Languages/nationalism
Geography and climate/environment
Spread of cultures/popular culture
Thematic approaches to World History

We welcome proposals on any subject, period or area from independent scholars as well as teachers/scholars from universities, colleges, secondary schools, publishers and other related institutions. Proposals may include individual papers, collaborative projects or roundtable discussions of a topic or theme connected to world history.
