CFP: teaching related media reviews (20 Dec; Spring 2008; AEMS Ed. About Asia)

This is a great chance to get your feet wet publishing something!
-----
REVIEWS REQUESTED
Asian Educational Media Service/Education About Asia
Special Media Section: Spring 2008

We are seeking reviews for the expanded media section that will be published in the Spring 2008 issue of Education About Asia. This section is sponsored by the Asian Educational Media Service (AEMS). Reviews may address the use of feature films, documentaries, CD-ROMs, podcasts, and web sites in teaching about Asia, with an emphasis upon classroom use. Tanya Lee, Program Director of AEMS, will be editing this section.

We welcome manuscripts on all areas of Asia and on a wide variety of topics. Reviews should run approximately 500 words (two double-spaced manuscript pages); essays should run about 1,000 words (four double-spaced manuscript pages). Before beginning a manuscript, potential authors should check with both Tanya and Lucien to ensure that we do not already plan to publish an existing review of the same material in EAA or the AEMS newsletter. It is important that any prospective author read the author guidelines posted at the EAA Web site, http://www.aasianst.org/eaa-toc.htm). Submissions should be sent by email attachment to both Tanya Lee and Lucien Ellington by no later than December 20, 2007.

CFP: Book Reviews--Postmodern Culture (e-journal; no deadline noted)

Note: There are a few Asia-related books on the list as well as books related to some interests of those in EALC. The CFP doesn't say but it's very possible that the journal will be able to send a review copy--write and ask. Assuming you're qualified to review a given title, book reviews can be a great way to get free books!

The online journal Postmodern Culture solicits reviews for the following books. We also welcome proposals for reviews on any aspect of postmodern culture and theory. Please send either reviews of 2000-3500 words or proposals for a review, along with a short professional bio, to: Ellen McCallum, Reviews Editor, PMC, email: emc@msu.edu. Word attachment files are best.
